History:
The Tičar mountain hut stands at the very top of Vršič mountain pass, the highest road pass in Slovenia (1620 metres above sea level.
The latest hut was built on the foundation of the previous hut, that was destroyed by an avalanche. It is named after dr. Josip Tičar, former president of the Slovenian Alpine society and the founder of the Slovenian mountain rescue service.
